The Walmart Tantrum

I named this one the Walmart Tantrum because inevitably every time I go into Walmart I encounter a child screaming at the top of their lungs and an embarrassed mom just trying to get a few more items they need so they can get out of that store!!! So here are a few tips to avoid that grocery store temper tantrum.
1. Do not go to the store with your children. Here's the thing, kids are kids and they have a very short attention span and asking them to do one task for an hour and a half is very difficult. You have about a thousand other options: order through the online pickup, leave the kids with Dad, order through Amazon and have them delivered right to your door. Just go with peace and avoid it all together.
2. Well sometimes you have to go into the store and you have to bring your children with you, because that is just life sometimes. In this case I suggest laying the ground rules BEFORE you go in and do not budge one bit on them. This is your line of rules and they can't even move it one inch. Whether that is they have to stay in the cart, or they have to have their hand on the cart at all times, they have to stay on the isle you are on, or they are not aloud to ask for anything, set the boundaries clearly and uphold them. If they start to break a rule, have them tell you what you said to remind them of the rule. You should not feel like a broken record, saying the same thing over and over again. Make sure they understand the consequence if they do not obey the rules.
3. Be willing to "go to the car". Here's the thing, you can do everything right and still one of your kids ends up falling on the floor in the isle. Just don't ignore it and keep shopping. Be willing to stop, pick that baby up and leave your cart with a store clerk ( telling him you'll be right back) and go take care of the child screaming. When the child is calm and you have disciplined them. Whatever you do make sure they never want to go to the car again. Go back in and get your groceries. (If you have the strength....) They need to know that mom's in charge even in the store. So just because there are people around doesn't mean you won't handle them.
Hope these little tips are helpful! Love you all!
